💡 How to Use This Chart:

1. Are you using a “Push-In” (Quick-Connect) Fitting?

Look at the OD (Outside Diameter). The tube must match the fitting size exactly.

  • Warning: A 1/4″ (6.35mm) tube will not fit correctly into a 6mm Metric fitting. They look similar but will leak!

2. Are you using a “Barbed” (Hose-Tail) Fitting?

Look at the ID (Inside Diameter). The “hole” of the tube must stretch over the ridges of the barb.

  • Pro-Tip: If the fit is tight, dip the end of the tube in hot water for 30 seconds to soften the plastic before pushing it onto the barb.

3. Are you using a “Jaco” (Compression) Fitting?

These fittings use a nut and a small plastic sleeve (ferrule). You must match the OD of the tube to the nut size. These are most common on Brine Tanks and older RO systems.

  • Most domestic systems use 6/4mm or 8/5mm. You move to 12/8mm when:

    1. Your pump flow rate exceeds 10–15 Liters per hour.

    2. You are pulling thick or viscous chemicals over a long distance.

    3. You need the highest possible burst pressure and physical durability in a harsh environment.
